Each year I enjoy fresh off the vine tomatoes from my own garden. The past few years I have also planted zucchini and yellow crook neck squash as well. This year I decided to add summer squash and blue lake green beans, lettuce and celery to the garden.
Being that this is the very end of March, I need to work on my garden. This year’s crops will be, I hope, tomatos, zucchini, yellow crook neck squash, blue lake green beans, romaine lettuce and celery. This year I am going to try to do something new and that is grow my own potatoes in a pot. I saw a video come across Facebook awhile back that showed you how to do it. So I thought I would give it a try this year. We’ll see how it works out.
There is nothing like the sweet taste of picking a tomato right from your own back yard to make a salad with. The taste is 200% better than store bought. We use a lot of tomatos throughout the year in this household so growing my own is the way to go and a lot cheaper.
When I was growing up in Central California we had a huge backyard and my Mom had a large garden. One years we planted about 8 long rows of green beans. They grew and grew and grew. We had green beans coming out of our ears. Mom was giving them away to the neighbors. They sure did taste good, but us kids got kind of tired of picking them and breaking off the ends.
