Today I met with our tax accountant as it is that time of year once again. We have had the same wonderful lady do our taxes for the past 28 years. She has been with us through the fantastic times, through the lean times and the disappointing times. We definitely have a history and a special bond with her.
So today we sat down at her desk with our file folder full of paperwork to sift through. While we were writing for her, my husband and I were talking with another person, just passing the time. We started talking about my books. I handed her one of my cards that show my 3 current published works and sell as all info (website, Facebook etc. etc. etc.) on the back. Then we suddenly got called in to get our taxes done.
The conversation shifted over to our friendly tax expert. I did not know this until today, she told he she read “Fears Revenge” and thoroughly enjoyed it. I was pleasantly surprised. I, of course, asked for her honest opinion of my work and she said she really did enjoyed it.
When I run into people that have read my book or books, and yes, there are a few out there. It always surprises me. I don’t know why, they are out there for sale all over the world, but still it warms my heart to know that people read it. Especially someone that I know.
I always want an honest opinion. Whether it is good or bad, critical or object. That is the only way to be a better writer. But that just my opinion. If I don’t know what’s wrong, I can’t fix it. That is my motto.
