What was your favorite book as a child? Do you remember it?
I can remember being around 4 years old and my mother reading Black Beauty to my and my older sister at bedtime, but the one book series that is my all time favorite has to be The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis.
I remember when I was about 12 years old in the 6th grade at Vinland Elementary School in Fresno, CA. After lunch recess, of course the longest break for a kid was lunch recess the teacher would try to calm us down so she could continue with the studies. The teacher, Mrs. Baker, found that sitting down in front of the class and reading to use for about 30 minutes each day after lunch, she calmed us down and got us interested in books. She was one smart cookie. I hear she moved to Mississippi or someplace down south to be a school principle. Lucky school.
When the movie The Lion, the witch and the wardrobe came out I couldn't watch it enough. I only wish they had made the other books as well. Maybe in the future, are you listening there Hollywood? I'll keep my fingers crossed.
